Join our team as a BI Support Consultant, where you’ll own and manage our IBM Cognos Analytics platform from the operating system up. This is not a report-development or dashboard-design role – it’s a hands-on technical position focused on performance, reliability and security.

Where you’d be working:

Our Support Consultants work in our Melbourne office as part of our Victorian Branch.

What you’d be doing (your day will look like this):  

You will be responsible for administering and diagnosing issues within the Cognos platform and its supporting infrastructure, including Linux servers, email relays and database connectivity. Your day-to-day will involve:

  • Managing a containerised BI platform
  • Administering, patching, and performance-tuning IBM Cognos Analytics on Linux (RHEL).
  • Troubleshooting email notification processes inside Cognos.
  • Managing Cognos content store databases (SQL Server, Informix) – backups, reorganizations, connectivity.
  • Linux server administration and basic shell scripting for automation and monitoring.
  • Troubleshooting Java applications (heap dumps, logs).
  • Working with networking components (firewalls, basic networking and authentication).

About you

We’re looking for a BI Support Consultant who has:

  • Experience with Business Intelligence (Cognos is a real bonus).
  • Problem solving and issue resolution with attention to detail.
  • Solid troubleshooting skills for Java-based applications.
  • Knowledge of networking and authentication fundamentals.
  • Technical background in systems administration and infrastructure is a bonus.
  • Some experience with Linux (RHEL) and enterprise databases (Informix, SQL Server, Postgres).
  • Basic scripting skills (bash/shell; Python is a bonus).
  • Knowledge of Pronto Xi or similar ERP software.
  • A team player with strong interpersonal skills.
  • A positive ‘can do’ attitude and work ethic.
  • Willingness to undergo a Police Check.

If you don’t have any experience with some of these points – don’t worry. You can impress us with your technical capabilities and problem-solving skills.
